Biography

Danny Muñoz is originally from San Miguel El Alto, Jalisco, Mexico. He is a singer, emcee, motivational speaker, record producer, and philanthropist. Since the beginning of his career, Danny has shone like a star. In 2004, at the beginning of his career, Danny Muñoz was selected as one of three finalists to pay tribute to the Prince of Song José José. In 2005 he was selected by the acclaimed producer Emilio Estefan to be one of the twenty finalists of the Telemundo reality show "Nuevas Voces De América." In 2009 Danny Muñoz produced and recorded his first album under the name of Daniel Muñoz El Ausente titled "Puro Corazón" with twelve original songs. Among them were "Mentirosa" and "Como Le Hago Pa' Olvidarte," songs that reached heavy rotation on national radio. With his Turn On Music, Turn Off Drugs (TOMTOD) anti-drug and bullying campaign, Danny Muñoz visits schools to make young people aware of the importance of maintaining a drug-free life. Today his campaign celebrates 8 years since its inception in 2012.


Due to his bilingual ability, Danny Muñoz was chosen by comedian George López to be a correspondent for The López Tonight Party Bus Tour, a promotional tour for TBS's The Lopez Tonight Show. In 2013, Danny Muñoz was the winner for “La Música del Futbol Mexicano.” A contest held for “La Liga MX” by Univision’s sports show “República Deportiva.” Danny Muñoz performed the winning song "Corre No Te Detengas" written by songwriter Vicky Cabrera. In 2014, Danny Muñoz released his first crossover album titled, “Only You” where he ventures into the Country music genre. In the same year he became the first Mexican-American singer to sing the United States National Anthem for the 93rd Red Bluff Round-up, one of the largest and most important rodeos in the United States.

Danny has participated in several television programs and has had the opportunity to sing on the same stage with artists such as José José, La Santa Cecilia, Roció Banquells, Lupita Infante, Federico Villa, Rosenda Bernal, Erika Vidrio, Dareyes De La Sierra, Mariachi Divas, Mariachi Ángeles de Pepe Martinez Jr and Beatriz Adriana her artistic godmother among others. When he is off stage, Danny Muñoz is dedicated to supporting and organizing community events for various non-profit organizations. Among the most recent events are the "12th, 13th and 14th Annual Anaheim Mariachi Festival" for Rhythmo Mariachi Academy, which he also serves as Ambassador to Mariachi Music. Danny Muñoz is also the producer of “The Gerber Change Awards,” dedicated to honoring active members of Tehama County, community where he grew up. On December 18, 2021, he organized "The Gerber Children's Christmas Fiesta" for the 9th consecutive year, an event held together with his family and organizations such as Toys for Tots, The California Highway Patrol, KIXE TV (PBS), Hermanos Unidos Por Una Nueva Esperanza and Kevin's Donuts, to collect and distribute toys to children in Tehama County. He is currently in the process of opening his own non-profit organization and working on new music to be release later this year.


During the pandemic many of his projects paused to help reopen the family restaurant Los Hermanos Mexican Cocina in the town of Gerber, California. It was during this time that his mentor and teacher Gabriel B. Zavala, director and founder of R.H.Y.T.H.M.O, passed away from covid. It was a blow as Danny was working with the teacher to launch his poetry book. A project longed for by the teacher. In honor of Maestro Gabriel Zavala Danny is working to make his last wish come true and on April 29, 2022 “Mis Magros Versos” by Gabriel B. Zavala will be released to the public.
